International "Yed’i Velayet 7 Vilayet" Short Film Festival Award Ceremony
The true guides of societies are their traditions, cultural and historical heritage ongoing for centuries.
The wind of change is inevitable for the whole world.
However, the perception of the spirit of the time, with the traces of our ancient civilization, is the most important key to walking firmly to the future.
In this respect, our city Bursa is an important city with its historical, cultural and economic power as well as its spiritual aspect.
Our ancestors say that the honor of the places comes from those who live there.
Throughout history, Bursa has been a center for many of our spiritual architects; Emir Sultan, Somuncu Baba, Uftade his royal highness and Ismail Hakki Bursevi.
Bursa, which Evliya Celebi mentions as "It is a spiritual city with heavenly light on it" is a blessed heritage reaching us under the leadership of our spiritual guides.
The existence of a city on its geography depends on three basic dynamics;
Natural resources, historical-cultural heritage and local talents constitute the dynamism of that city.
At a time when the world economy is now dominated by cities and regions with high competitive power rather than countries, we, as Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aim to increase the current potential and competitiveness of our city Bursa with the advantage of these three dynamics.
In this context, with a vision that strengthens the role of Bursa in the development of Turkey, we have implemented more than 40 macro projects.
Today, we are hosting an award ceremony of an extremely meaningful organization that enables us to remember our intellectuals and scholars who have been remolding the lands of Bursa and Anatolia with their knowledge and wisdom for centuries.
As the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we aim to bring to light the thought structures and works of individuals with deep traces in our civilization, and more importantly, to transfer our historical and cultural heritage from generation to generation.
In this context “International Yed’i Velayet 7 Vilayet Short Film Festival” which was held with our sponsorship, contains a very strong aspect in understanding and interpreting social reality.
Due to the 'Year of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin' declared by the President of the Republic of Turkey in 2019, to provide a better understanding of Islamic culture and civilization, it is quite meaningful that the main theme of our festival this year is the first explorers of technology.
Fuat Sezgin, who was deeply attached to his country and nation, has enabled us to rediscover how much the Islamic scientists have illuminated the path of humanity from medicine to astronomy, from mathematics to chemistry, from physics to political science.
With his efforts and works he put forward throughout his whole life, the late Sezgin has proved that the scientific progress process is the property of whole humanity, not a nation.
I would like to take this opportunity to remember Fuat Sezgin once again with respect and mercy.
It is also very meaningful for us that our young brothers film the life stories of such important personalities and play an active role in the projects that will transfer to future generations.
Short films adapted from the life philosophies of our Islamic scholars from Abbas Ibn Faris to Jabir Bin Hayyan, from Al Jazeri to Kadizade Rumi within the scope of the festival are also a summary of the value they have added to our ancient civilization and the scientific world.
The success of the Islamic world, which began with the curiosity of science and technology and has been existing for centuries, show us the infinity of great ideals and dreams.
Today, we aim to increase the interest of the younger generation to science and technology with our GUHEM project, which we realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Metropolitan Municipality.
GUHEM, which we are preparing to do official opening on April 23, 2020, will strengthen the identity of our city as a center of attraction and will broaden the horizon of new generations in the field of space and aviation.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema and the Ehli Sanat Cinema and Culture Association, who made us remember our values and mobilized the dynamism of the young generation with their support.
I also commemorate our spiritual architects and spiritual guides.
May Allah be pleased with all of them.
I would like to congratulate the young brothers who have won the awards.
As Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we will continue to contribute to the projects that will support social development in the field of culture and arts, as well as making every effort to add value to the economy of our city and our country.
I hope that the festival, where we shall have the opportunity to examine the foundations of the technological transformation process which is the most important basis for the new development move of our country, will be beneficial for us. I wish you a good evening
