Centers of Excellence
Initiated under the leadership of BTSO, the Textile and Technical Textile
Center of Excellence aims to strengthen innovation-based and value-added
production in the textile and technical textile sectors, facilitating the
realization of new ideas in the industry.
Operating under the umbrella of Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D
Center (BUTEKOM), the center also serves the purpose of establishing a common
laboratory for the textile and garment sectors, providing advantages to
companies in terms of time and cost by sending relevant tests abroad, and
conducting R&D studies in technical textiles.
Covering an area of approximately 13,000 square meters, the center includes
meeting and training rooms, a pilot production facility, laboratories,
fashion and design areas, company offices, staff offices, social areas,
storage and archive spaces.
In collaboration with Uludağ University, the Composite Materials Research and
Excellence Center was established to lead Bursa in the field of composites in
the automotive, machinery and textile industries. The center aims to support
research and know-how in the production of composite material products,
develop rapid production techniques for the automotive industry, and reduce
costs in the production of carbon fibers. It also focuses on creating
infrastructure for the testing and analysis needs of companies engaged in
composite production, shortening the time in production methods, and
developing new thermoset and thermoplastic prepregs.
BTSO aims to provide significant added value to the city's economy through
the Textile and Technical Textile Center of Excellence and the Composite
Center of Excellence, both considered "first in Turkey"
projects.
Additionally, BTSO is actively pursuing the establishment of a
Nanotechnology Center of Excellence, which would span various fields, from
medicine and healthcare to aerospace research.
New R&D Centers
Research and Development Centers, essential elements of Bursa's
transformation process, play a crucial role in enhancing the innovative and
value-added products of our companies, thereby strengthening their global
competitiveness and fostering a culture of R&D and innovation.
BTSO, always prioritizing Research and Development Centers, has aimed to
both modernize them in terms of quality and increase their number. As part of
this effort, the number of R&D Centers in our city has quadrupled in five
years, reaching over 100 with the contribution of BTSO's initiatives.
Bursa, which had no Design Centers four years ago, now boasts nearly 20,
thanks to the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the
efforts of our Chamber. BTSO continues its commitment to enhancing the
quality and increasing the number of R&D Centers, aspiring to elevate
Turkey's identity as a hub for production, export, research and innovation.
