Bursa Business School, established by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) in Uludağ as a reference training center for the business world, hosted the "Subcontractor and Supply Chain Management Workshop in the Defense and Aerospace Sector," which was held for the first time this year by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). Bursa Business School (BBS), which has become one of the most prestigious training hubs for the business world, is enhancing Uludağ's appeal as a center of attraction through the high-level meetings and events it hosts. BBS hosted the "Subcontractor and Supply Chain Management Workshop in the Defense and Aerospace Sector," organized by the Presidency of Defense Industries on October 11-13, 2024. The event brought together prominent figures from the defense and aerospace industries, including Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, general managers of ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TEI, and TAI, senior representatives from SSB and affiliated companies, as well as firms operating in the defense and aerospace sectors.
During the event, the expectations, demands, and challenges of subcontractor companies were identified, and collaborative discussions were held on proposed solutions. Additionally, the Defense Industry Awards Ceremony, panels, and bilateral business meetings took place. BTSO Chairman İbrahim Burkay expressed his pride and joy in hosting such a comprehensive event that contributes to Turkiye's vision of a fully independent defense industry. He said, “In the upcoming period, we will continue our efforts to make Uludağ the meeting point for the business world through prestigious events at local, national, and international levels.”
“Uludağ is Becoming Turkiye's Davos”
Chairman Burkay emphasized that the Bursa Business School project was inspired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's vision of making Uludağ a center like Davos. He stated, “The historic 'Kirazlıyayla Sanatorium,' designed in 1946 by Emin Onat, the architect of Anıtkabir, and Prof. Dr. Leman Tomsu, one of the first female architects of our country, had been abandoned for many years. As the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we undertook one of the most comprehensive restoration projects in the history of the Republic here. We brought this significant cultural heritage, which holds an important place in the city’s memory, back to life as 'Bursa Business School' for the service of our business community and our country. We have signed cooperation agreements with internationally recognized universities and institutions. This facility, with examples like INSEAD, Wilton Park, and Harvard Business School globally, offers innovative training programs to prepare industry professionals and senior executives for the ongoing economic transformation.”
“We are Hosting Organizations that Reflect Uludağ's Brand Value”
Burkay continued, "We now have a strong center in Bursa where high-quality education, top-level meetings, and summits are organized, contributing to our economy with healthy living programs and accommodation services." He added, “Bursa Business School, located in the unique nature of Uludağ, is emerging as a preferred destination for national and international events. With its distinctive architecture, 550-person auditorium, meeting rooms, and thesis rooms, BBS is hosting events that match the brand value of both Uludağ and our city. In 2023, we hosted over 70 world-renowned astronauts and cosmonauts at the Planetary Congress, organized by the Space Explorers Association-ASE. Following that, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye, the Turkish Exporters Assembly, and many business organizations held significant summits, workshops, and award ceremonies here. Fairs, exhibitions, and cultural events can also be organized here. Most recently, we hosted another highly valuable event organized by the Presidency of Defense Industries, bringing together stakeholders of the Turkish defense industry. We will continue working to make Uludağ a center of attraction not only in the winter months but year-round. In the upcoming period, we will make Uludağ the meeting point for the business world through prestigious events at local, national, and international levels.”
“Bursa Business School is a Visionary Investment”
Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, stated that they were working on developing a qualified subcontracting industry with unique design and development capabilities, which can compete internationally and integrate into global supply chains. He pointed out that the first "Subcontractor and Supply Chain Management Workshop in the Defense and Aerospace Sector" was held in Bursa, saying, "Bursa is an important industrial city. BTSO is making visionary efforts, and Bursa Business School is one of them. We were very pleased with the organization. We thank BTSO for the excellent environment and hospitality provided."
“We Want to Organize Our In-House Training Programs Here”
HAVELSAN General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar described Bursa Business School as a very important investment and expressed interest in holding their in-house training programs there. Nacar noted that he believed the center would become more widely known and utilized, not only in Turkiye but globally, in the future and thanked BTSO for its hospitality.

ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci emphasized that BTSO had created an excellent infrastructure in Uludağ, and Bursa Business School has the potential to host even larger organizations.
