Prof. Dr. Ahmet Saim Kılavuz, Rector of Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ), visited Turkey's first space-themed training center, Gökmen Aerospace and Aviation Training Centre (GUHEM), which was put into service in Bursa under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the visit of GUHEM that was launched under the leadership of BTSO, with the cooperation of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and TÜBİTAK, Rector Ahmet Saim Kılavuz was accompanied by administrative board BUÜ. Meanwhile, Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of BTSO, informed Rector Kılavuz about the studies carried out at GUHEM. At the meeting held after the investigate visit, they had an exchange of ideas on providing scientific and academic support to said GUHEM project.
VISION PROJECT OF BTSO
Mr. Burkay, President of BTSO, said that Gökmen Project was one of the vision projects they put forward when they took office in 2013. Mr. Burkay also stated that GUHEM had a closed area of 13,500 square meters and 154 interactive devices of different qualities. He additionally uttered that GUHEM had a two-floor structure and on the first floor there would be interactive mechanisms as well as aviation learning and space innovation center, vertical wind tunnel and modern flight simulator while on the second floor, namely "Space Floor", information about atmospheric events, solar system, planets and galaxies would be presented.
THE CENTER IS COUNTING DAYS FOR OPENING
President Burkay stated that the center was put into practice in order to attract the younger generations’ further interest in line with Turkey's national technology move and it aimed at being the best in Europe and among the top 5 centers of the world. “It is getting ready to take its place among the world's leading aerospace and aviation centers with its rich content and award-winning architecture that enriches the city identity. We planned the opening of GUHEM on the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day, but we could not open the center due to the measures taken against the coronavirus epidemic. Within normalization process, I hope we will open our center as soon as possible. I personally thank to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Saim Kılavuz, Rector of BUÜ, and our dear academics for their visit,” Mr. Burkay said.
WE ARE READY TO SUPPORT GUHEM
Rector Ahmet Saim Kılavuz said “I was really excited while investigating GUHEM. This place will be Turkey's leading center in the aerospace and aviation field. President Burkay has been offering vision projects since he took office. In addition to TEKNOSAB and BUTEKOM, GUHEM is another considerable project that will enrich Bursa. I thank them for bringing such a perfect center to our city.” Rector Kılavuz also added that they were ready to provide academic support regarding the activities to be carried out at GUHEM. |
