Visit of BTSO Temporary Living Site in Hatay

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman İbrahim Burkay and BTSO Assembly Members visited the BTSO Temporary Living Site established in Hatay with the support of the Bursa business community and met with the earthquake victims. İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BTSO, stated that they will never pull their support away from the earthquake zone and said, "As the business people of Bursa, we will continue to provide all kinds of support to our region until all disaster victims have their homes."

Established by BTSO in Hatay's Antakya town center in coordination with AFAD after the February 6 earthquake, the BTSO Temporary Living Site accommodates nearly 4 thousand victims of the disaster. The Temporary Living Area, which consists of container houses equipped to meet the temporary shelter needs of citizens affected by the earthquake, serves citizens with its infrastructure, electricity and lighting systems, administrative and social areas. BTSO Chairman İbrahim Burkay, BTSO Assembly Chairman Ali Uğur, BTSO Board of Directors, Assembly Council and Assembly Members visited the site to examine the latest conditions in the Temporary Living Area and to identify the needs. The BTSO delegation was accompanied by Antakya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice Chairman Serdal Şahutoğlu, Antakya Commodity Exchange Board Member Gönül Uğurlu and TOBB Hatay Women Entrepreneurs Board President Yeşim Ugutmen.

"We Mobilize All Our Resources"

İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BTSO, said that the earthquakes centering in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, which were described as the catastrophe of the century, caused massive destruction in 11 provinces. President Burkay mentioned that intensive efforts are being made to get the cities affected by the earthquake back on their feet and to keep the wheels of production turning in the region and said, "Under the leadership of our President, our Governors, District Governors and AFAD teams have been in the field from the first day and continue to stand by the disaster victims. Aid is being provided to the region from every province of our country from west to east, north to south. We, as BTSO, are mobilizing all our resources to heal the wounds of this great wound. Today, we visited our Temporary Living Space, which we put into practice with the support of our Bursa business community."

"We Shall Never Pull Out of the Region"

President Burkay said that nearly 6 months have passed since the earthquake and the needs of the earthquake victims have become different as life goes on and continued his speech as follows: " BTSO Assembly visited our Temporary Living Area in order to show that we stand by the earthquake victims and to identify the needs on site. We have met with the families staying here and brought gifts to our children. We see that we should keep our presence here. As the business community of Bursa, we will continue to provide all kinds of support to our region until all of the disaster victims return to their homes, workplaces and schools."

"We Stand by Hatay"

BTSO Assembly President Ali Uğur said that one of the most fundamental challenges caused by the earthquake was the need for temporary shelter. Stating that they quickly organized and completed the Temporary Living Site in Hatay with the support of the Bursa business community, Uğur said, "We are very pleased to see the happiness of our families, especially our children, whom we shelter here today. I would like to thank once again all our members and philanthropists who supported this project. We will continue to stand by Hatay with all the material and moral means we can."

" Demonstrating an Example of Assistance and Solidarity"

BTSO Assembly Member Tekin Çanga stated that the Turkish nation supported the region in unity and solidarity after the earthquake disaster and said, "As the business community of Bursa, we were united under the leadership of Mr. İbrahim Burkay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BTSO. We mobilized together. We were proud of the establishment of the Temporary Living Space. I hope such a disaster will never happen again in our country. I would like to convey my condolences to the people of Hatay once again."
