Bursa, recognized as Turkey's industrial capital with its
production infrastructure in automotive, machinery, and textiles, is
progressing to become the nation's hub in high-tech sectors such as space,
aviation, and defense through the initiatives of our Chamber.
One of BTSO's significant projects, the Bursa Gökmen Project, is poised to
introduce the Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center (GUHEM) to our city.
Developed in collaboration with our Metropolitan Municipality and with the support
of the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology, GUHEM will be
established as Turkey's first center with a space theme, covering an area of
approximately 13,000 square meters. It will feature 154 interactive training
devices, aviation training centers (simulators), space education centers, and
a vertical wind tunnel. GUHEM aims to provide knowledge and insight into the
fields of space and aviation for our children and youth.
Through various events, we aim to raise awareness among the younger
generation in space and aviation, ultimately aspiring to produce Turkey's
first astronaut from Bursa through continuous efforts spanning years.
As part of the Bursa Gökmen Project, we have formed the Space, Aviation,
and Defense Council, bringing together members with production competence,
and the Space, Aviation, and Defense Cluster Association. Subsequently, we
established a cluster structure comprising 94 members involved in groups
contributing to the development of the Defense Industry (land, sea, air),
Civil Aviation (passenger planes), Spacecraft (satellites), Sport Aviation
(light aircraft, paramotor) and General Aviation.
The Bursa business community, now actively engaged in projects related to
space, defense, and aviation, has incorporated these topics into its agenda
after closely studying international leading organizations such as NASA,
Airbus and Boeing and participating in prestigious fair organizations.
