Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), stated that the national automobile project of Turkey was a new milestone for the national industry and the foundation of its factory was laid in Gemlik. He also uttered, "We will use the production capability we have here in Bursa to realize the 60-year old dream of our country. The foundation of our factory was laid in Gemlik. We are also excited to see our first car coming off the production line".
President Mr. Burkay reminded that national automobile project was launched with the motto "Journey to New League" to create the mobility ecosystem in Turkey, and added: "The dream that started with “Devrim (Revolution)” automobile in 1961 has finally come true under the leadership of our esteemed President. May the factory of our first domestic and national electric car, which is a historic step for our national economy, yield good results. We are now excitedly waiting for our first car to come off the production line. I would like to extend my gratitude to our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to our government, to the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Turkey's Automobile Joint Venture Group (TOGG) and the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu who have enabled us to experience the pride of realizing the national automobile project thanks to the confidence they have in Bursa business world".
TRANSFORMATION MOVEMENT IN BURSA ECONOMY
Mr. İbrahim Burkay said they acted in cooperation with the Investment Office of the Presidency of Turkey and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, noting that BTSO was one of the first organizations to announce the support for national automobile production. “Thanks to human resource-related investments, ever-improving logistical capabilities, and advanced technology projects such as Bursa Technology Organized Industrial Zone (TEKNOSAB), OIZs for SMEs (KOBI OSB), Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center (BUTEKOM), Model Factory, and the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Education Foundation (BUTGEM), we are ready to utilize the production capability of our city, Bursa, in the production of the domestic automobile as well,” said Mr. President Burkay, stating that the transformation from conventional production to medium-high and high technology industry started to give results with the projects they had realized in Bursa in the last seven years.

Referring to the works carried out regarding the domestic automobile project in Bursa, Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of BTSO, stated: “Thanks to the R&D studies we carry out within BUTEKOM, we aim to reach an important standard in carbon dioxide emission while reducing the vehicle weight and fuel consumption of the domestic car. We also completed our project preparations to establish an 'Electric Vehicles Excellence Center'. In this context, we will train expert technical personnel in electric vehicles with the course programs that we will organize within BUTGEM together with Bursa Uludağ University Vocational School of Technical Sciences. It will accept 40 students to the hybrid and electric vehicle technology program to be opened this year. Uludağ University and Bursa Technical University, as well as the level of competence of our engineering graduates, provide us with great opportunities for the success of the domestic automobile project, and to start a new wave of development originated in Bursa. R&D and innovation-oriented works with the cooperation of the public, industrialists, and universities will bring significant gains to our city and national economy. With all our investments and resources, we will continue to make the highest possible contribution to the domestic automobile project that is the most important breakthrough in our national technology initiative.
