FOOD SECTOR EXPLORE ITS POTENTIAL IN EXPORT

Representatives of Food sector in Bursa strengthens its export competency through the Development of International Competitiveness (UR-GE) Project. UR-GE members which increased the export potential of food sector in 2017 with the awareness of “Bursa Grows Turkey Grows” motto; also determined their forthcoming 6-month action plan. While companies operating food sector are preparing their business visits to India, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, France and Germany, they will also organize two separate procurement delegations in Bursa to be held in November 2018 and March 2019.

 

Food sector representatives united their forces under ‘Food Joint’ corporate identity as they intend to increase their export potentials with UR-GE project under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO). Sector representatives who have covered remarkable developments on the course of export by carrying out foreign marketing, procurement delegation, training and consultancy activities and have realized 3 different procurement delegation organizations in the last 2 years through this project.

 

Food producers in Bursa have had the opportunity to come together with 500 foreign buyers from nearly 40 countries, mainly from the Middle East and European countries, to their procurement delegation programs. Almost 2,500 business connections have been made as part of the realized meetings.

 

 

VISIT TO KOLN AND DUBAI

 

In addition to the procurement delegation programs, sector representatives took part in major organizations in Germany and the United Arab Emirates. The sector representatives who visited the ANUGA Fair, one of the biggest food fairs in the world, which held in Germany in October 2017 for the first time, also had the opportunity to examine the investment environment and potential of Dubai.

 

NEW ROUTE IS SET

BTSO determined the forthcoming 6-month action plan of Food Ur-Ge project. Representatives of the sector will be visiting the Paris SIAL fair in October. Ur-Ge member companies, which are preparing for bilateral business meetings in Germany - Cologne and in November and Saudi Arabia in December, will also visit Qatar, Morocco and India for B2B meetings in the first three quarter of 2019. Within the scope of the project works, procurement delegation programs will also be organized in Bursa between 27 November - 1 December and in March, 2019.

 

 

“WE CONDUCT 14 UR-GE PROJECTS”

 Mr. İbrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO stated that they aim to strengthen the export potential and competitiveness of companies through UR-GE projects. He also added that BTSO is one of the many establishments in Turkey to conduct most UR-GE projects with its 14 different UR-GE project and emphasized the fact that the UR-GE project of Food industry sets a higher standard in export. Mr. Burkay added by saying that they began the UR-GE project for Bursa to reflect its wide experience in production in terms of food industry to foreign trade. “As BTSO our desire for our companies to achieve export oriented growth. Our UR-GE projects open new horizons to our companies. We will continue to be on the path of export-oriented growth for our companies with our Global Fair Agency and Commercial Safari Project as well as Ur-Ge projects.”

 

 

COMPANIES FOCUSED ON FOREIGN TRADE

 

Mr. Ibrahim Burkay said that over the last 5 years, more than 17 thousand business people from different geographies of the world have been brought together with Bursa companies through the Commercial Safari and UR-GE projects. He added by mentioning member companies in Food UR-GE project strengthen their export competency and business connections in abroad and also pointed out the reflection of the contribution of the UR-GE projects to companies is evident in export figures. He also said exports in the food sector in Bursa, increased by 17% compared to the previous year, while 29 members of the project member showed an increase of 34% in the same period. “Our UR-GE project enabled the sector to discover its own potential and strength. A BTSO, we will keep taking new steps devoted to the development of food industry. We continue to conduct new projects for the development and export oriented growth of our companies. The increase in production and export capabilities of companies in Bursa will continue to reflect positively on the economic parameters of our country.”
