Bursa has Increased Its Defence and Aerospace Exports about 3 Times in First 5 Months

Bursa, one of the leading cities for the National Economy succeeded to increase export rates by 278% in defence and aerospace sectors in the first 5 months of 2017 by comparison with the same period of last year. Mr. İbrahim Burkay; President of the Board of Directors of BTSO mentioned that Bursa has an important experience in automotive and machine sectors and increased its performance in strategic sectors day by day.

Bursa that is one of the leading cities in the growth process of Turkey is getting much stronger in defence and aerospace sectors. According to Turkish Exporters Assembly’s (TIM) first-five month of 2017 data, export rates of companies in the defence and aerospace sectors in Bursa increased nearly three times more than the previous year, to about $ 4.9 million.

 

“BURSA WILL HAVE A VOICE ON THE SECTOR”

Mr. İbrahim Burkay emphasized that Bursa has a great experience coming from the past in some strategic sectors such as automotive, textile, machine and chemistry. And its experience of industry and production should be integrated into different sectors. He also said that Bursa has a voice in some areas that will seal the fate of the century.

 

“WE ARE AWARE OF OUR PRODUCTION CAPABILITY”

Mr. İbrahim Burkay emphasized that Bursa has already potential to meet the 75% of national defence industry. He expressed that there has been an increasing trend in export rates of Bursa in the defence and aerospace sectors, and stated: “As Bursa business world, we know our city’s experience and its production ability in strategic sectors. In this sense we have built clustering and international competitiveness development projects that have brought companies working for Bursa and Turkey together in different sectors. By increasing their awareness, we have enabled them to carry out projects in a pre-competitive culture of cooperation.”

 

OUR MEMBERS TAKE PART IN NATIONAL PROJECTS

Mr. Burkay who mentioned that many companies taking part in clustering and international competitiveness development projects continue to participate in national projects of Turkey and said that “Our sector representatives work with brands such as Roketsan, TAI, TEI, Havelsan, Aselsan. As BTSO, we aim that Bursa has a voice in our region and our country has a voice in the world. Within this scope, we are preparing our companies for the future in strategic sectors such as aerospace and defence that require advanced technology. We aim that all sectors that require advanced technology in our companies which are set into motion by us will be technology base of Bursa, especially aerospace and defence sectors. Within this scope, TEKNOSAB that is one of our vision projects and Gökmen Aerospace Training Centre that will be laid the foundation in a short span of time will be brought into city. We will continue to carry out our works which are seen as role models in Turkey and continue to guide our companies with great enthusiasm.”
